About Beck.

The Informal Version

I fancy myself a writer of words.

I grew up in blue collar suburban Detroit, where I learned that “crayon” only has one syllable when spoken.

I like creepy things and baby animals, not necessarily in that order.

I’ve been writing since I was a child. It was my second love, after reading.

I alternate between friendly and churlish. I don’t always realize which I’ve done until it’s too late.

The Formal Version

Rebecca K. McDowell is a dark fiction writer moonlighting as an attorney.
